Our approach to each client is to treat them as unique, instead of just another client. We have developed individualized testing and measurement methods and equipment for specific jobs as well as using tried and true technology. For example, we developed a deep well waterproof detector that had to fit inside six-inch core drill sections to assist a client determine if soil borings were getting close to previously buried radioactive materials. We also helped a client convince the EPA that the high gross beta concentrations in test well samples were due to open air stockpiles of natural potassium nitrate stored in the 1920s through the 1940s and not from contamination resulting from Manhattan Project activities. Our training programs are specifically designed to your needs, including not only the material, but also flexibility in meeting your scheduling needs. We understand both the regulatory requirements and the need for efficiency and economy required by industry. We also understand the relationship between management and labor and work well with both. Our excellent relationships with regulatory agencies means that we know many of the people in those agencies and how to satisfy your needs and their requirements.
We have investigated and reinacted radiation over-exposures to determine personnel doses as well as demonstrated that the dose was delivered to the dosimeter and not the person. We have evaluated radioactively contaminated buildings and sites, developed health and safety plans for environmental companies performing the decommissioning work, and provided radiation monitoring and oversite of the decommissioning activities. Health Physics Associates has performed baseline studies for new sites to determine the extent of natural or man-made radioactive material present at the site. We routinely perform management audits of radiation safety programs and annually required surveys of radiation producing equipment, including facilities using lasers and electromagnetic generating devices. We are often called to evaluate the potential for magnetic and electric fields in areas in which personnel having implanted cardiac pacemakers or defibrillators will frequent. Other non-ionizing projects have included evaluating the radiation safety program and the equipment for a major broadcasting satellite installations and evaluating laser safety installations and laser safety programs for several companies.
